Tenjoyama park

There is an entrance in the Funatsu area, east of Lake Kawaguchiko. Tenjoyama Park can be visited easily if you take a ropeway that connect the altitude difference of 220m in three minutes. There is also a hiking course that you can walk to Tenjoyama Park. You can enjoy clumps of hydrangea in summer and fall foliage in autumn.

The hiking course is called “Hydrangea Route” and you can enjoy hydrangeas from mid-July to late-August. You can also go down from Tenjoyama park, so it is possible to go up the ropeway one way and go down the the hiking course on the way back.

Nakabadaira

“Nakabadaira”, located in the middle of the hiking course, has an arbor and benches overlooking Mt. Fuji, and a monument to the novelist Osamu Dazai. After passing Nakabahira, you can arrive at Tenjoyama Gokoku Shrine in about 10 minutes. There are toilets, benches and an observation deck so you can take a break here.

From the observation deck of Tenjoyama Park, you can see skirts of Mt.Fuji, Jukai forest and the cityscape of Fujiyoshida-city.

Tenjoyama mountain is also called “Kachikachiyama mountain” because it was the stage of the famous Japanese tale “Kachikachiyama”. In a masterpiece of Osamu Dazai “Otogi Zoshi", there is the one verse “The case happened in a mountain behind of Funatsu, Kawaguchiko-machi".
