Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nemba

Iyashi-no-Sato Nemba

Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nemba is a tourist settlement that restored a thatched old house located in the northwest of Lake Saiko. There are 20 old houses, and they are used as a handmade experience of crafts, the sale of products, and the restaurant.

The sericulture industry was originally active in this district. Therefore, there were a lot of thatched houses of “Kabuto Zukuri(Japanese meaning, like a samurai warrior helmet)" which installed the window on the second floor. However, due to the damage caused by the typhoon in 1966, the village was devastated by debris flow.

40 years later in 2006, 11 new thatched houses were rebuilt, and they opened as “Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nemba". After that, it became the current 20 thatched houses in 2009.

Just walking through the village makes you feel nostalgic and feel really healed. Enjoy a glimpse of the life at that time, and the serene view of Mt. Fuji.
