Funatsu Tainai Lava Tree Molds

The Funatsu Tainai Lava Tree Molds is one of the world Heritage properties of Mt.Fuji. The Tainai Lava Tree Molds is an alias of “Lava tree mould", it is called like that because the inside resembles the human womb, and became the object of the belief.

There are various types of lava tree mould depending on their origin. The Funatsu Tainai Lava Tree Molds is a “Complex lava tree mould" at least five lava tree moulds are connected.

This cave is about 68m long, and you can experience the walking through the womb. There is the Utsumuro-Sengen shrine at the entrance and you can enter the cave from the back of the worship hall.

The cave is open daily from 9:00 to 17:00 except on Mondays (Public holidays is open). Jun. to Aug. is open every day. The admission fee is 200 yen for adults and 100 yen for children.
