Mt. Koyodai

from koyodai resthouse

The spectacular view of Mt. Fuji and Aokigahara Jukai Forest. In autumn, you can see the beautiful scenery of colored foliage as the name “Koyo”(“autumn leaves“ in English) suggests.

Mt.Koyodai is located on the Tokai Nature Trail, the popular hiking course that follows Narusawa from Mt. Ashiwada. There is the “Koyodai Rest House”, a place where hikers can take a rest.

The view from the observatory of this rest house is wonderful, and it overlooks the Aokigahara Jukai Forest connected from Mt. Fuji. 200 yen is required, but please cooperate as it is an important expense to maintain the equipment.

Please note that the rest house is open from 8:30 to 17:00, but may vary depending on the weather. It will be closed especially when there is snowfall or snow. If the rest house is closed, you cannot climb to the observation deck.

Getting to Mt. Kotyodai

The parking lot of Koyodai is about a 20-minute drive from Kawaguchiko station, and it is located on the way to Lake Motosuko on Route 139. Turn right from the Route 139 and you’ll find it on your left. It is about half an hour’s hike from there.

If you are going by bus, take the “Blue Line" from Kawaguchiko Station and get off at the “Koyodai Ent.". Approx. 30 min., 590 yen one way.

There is an unpaved road leading to the rest house, but this is a work road used for transportation of goods and hiking course maintenance. As a rule, it is not a general roadway to go up to the rest house, so if you drive on your own discretion, be careful with the people walking.
