Koumi park

Koumi park spreading out along the shore of the Lake Kawaguchiko southern coast Katsuyama is a natural park with the very large lawn open space. As part of a Katsuyama scenery formation plan, It was opened in April, 1996.

It is the best park to enjoy nature without a big building in the outskirts. A lot of tourists eating a lunch on a fine day, and can look at the beautiful sunset in the evening.

There is the shore promenade which is 1.6km from here to Shikkogo park, local people do jogging and walking in morning and evening. There are literature monuments such as Junichiro Tanizaki or “Sakuya Aino Kane" along the promenade. You can enjoy the scenery of the seasonal waterside. In the facing of the park, “Roadside station Katsuyama" are established in 1998 and are full of local people and tourists day after day.

“Sakuya Aino Kane"

Katsuyamamura set it up in 2002, and has been named after the “Konohana Sakuyahime" which has been enshrined in the Fuji Omuro Sengen shrine. There is an arched art object of approximately 4 meters in height, and a big bell falls down. Love is concluded when you ring the bell once, it is said wishes come true when ring it twice. When the sunset tinge the lake with a rosy flush, lovers sounds the bell.

“Junichiro Tanizaki literature monument"

“Junichiro Tanizaki" who is the great writer, continued always walking the highest peak of the literary world. He stayed in Katsuyama in the autumn of 1942 and wrote a masterpiece “Hosoyuki". The monument is designed in the form that open a book, and the one paragraph of the “Hosoyuki" is carved his handwriting with.

His first book of poetry was published “Aoi Yomichi" in 1929. He stayed in the hotel in Katsuyama in 1943. He found a subject in a natural scene or object which adds poetic charm to the season of Yamanashi, and left much poetry and essays. The monument was made in reference to “Fuji that appeared on the soup" that was his work.

Because the land has been poor by volcanic ash of the Mount Fuji, or not suitable for rice farming by cold climate, it was over in 1971.

Roadside station Katsuyama

It opened in 1998. There are a rest room and a restaurant, a drink vending machine, a tourist information center. From the second-floor “circle observation deck", you can look around seasonal Lake Kawaguchiko. In an adjacent “Katsuyama Local Farmers’Products store", they sell bamboo art objects and ceramics, the plateau vegetables of the Mt.Fuji, the craft product of the stone. At the restaurant, you can eat “Itoriki Curry" not to use wheat flour and the salt for at all.

There is a quick-charger for electric car(EV), which KIKUSUI ELECTRONICS CORP. in Katsuyama donated to Fujikawaguchiko-machi. It can charge from empty state up to about 80% in 20-30 minutes.
