Unoshima shrine

This shrine was built in 1554 on Unoshima island, the only island of Fuji Five Lakes. The deity of water, Toyotama-Himeno-Mikoto, is enshrined.

An annual festival is held on April 25 every year, and “Chigo-no Mai” is dedicated to the Kawaguchi Asama shrine. Boats come and go from the Oishi district for the annual festival and anyone can go to the island for free. The tools to use in Shinto ritual, and a Shinto priest are also carried to the island by a boat.
