Mutsumuro-Sengen shrine [Funatsu-Tainai shrine]
A cave was discovered by “the Fuji-Gyoja" who led the people of “the Fuji-Ko" in 1673. The sacred spirits of Asama-Myojin was moved in this cave, and the main shrine was built at the cave entrance.
In 800, the cave was created by flowing lava from the great eruption of Mt.Fuji. Since the molds resemble the inside of a body, it was called “Tainai" (womb or inside of a body). It is called “Funatsu Tainai Lava Tree Molds" now.
Funatsu-Tainai Lava Tree Molds was considered a sacred site, where Fuji-ko adherents used to purify themselves and pray for safety before climbing Mt.Fuji.
There is the entrance to the cave at the back of the hall of worship.
