Oike park

It is in the southern coast Oike district of Lake Kawaguchiko, and avenue lined with poplar trees is a beautiful park. There is a promenade between Oike Park parking lot and Kawaguchiko Ohashi bridge and can enjoy the walk of the waterside. It becomes the main event place of “Lake Kawaguchiko fireworks" in winter.

The illuminations event began in 2011, and shops and trees are beautiful by illuminations.

Near the park, there are “Kitahara museum" “Kawaguchiko Herb-Kan" “House of perfume" “Ishikoro-Kan" and is the base for sightseeing in Lake Kawaguchiko.

Lake Kawaguchiko “Goddesses on the Lake"

This bronze statue is a masterpiece by Gakuryo Nasu, the well-known disciple of Japan’s greatest sculptor, the late Seibo Kitamura. With the expert guidance of this master the statue was given a power which can only come from a true understanding of the very essence of beauty. The statue represents the image of the two famous goddesses of Sengen Shrine, Konohanasakuyahime and Iwanagahime dancing joyfully over the lake. These two sister goddesses are highly respected and loved by the people of this area as guardians bringing eternal love, peace and prosperity and who, after overcoming countless hardships, aid in the birth of all things with pure hearts, indifferent to all wordly dimensions of rich and poor, beautiful and ugly.

Countless myself and legends have been passed down over the centuries about Mt.Fuji, Japan’s most sacred peak and about these two sister goddesses to show how deeply they are revered and loved by not only the people of this area but by all Japanese.

Seibo Kitamura left the symbol of Lake Kawaguchiko “Gensen" which is near the Rinsaku park.

Kawaguchiko Ohashi bridge

This bridge to cross over the lake inaugurated in 1971 is approximately 500 meters in length, it was made for the first time in the national park special area. The bridge is chosen as “100 selections of Japanese roads" as a road having beautiful scenery with the natural sightseeing superior in 1987, and its monument was installed. From the bridge which on foot and the bicycle can pass, you can see Lake Kawaguchiko and magnificent Mt.Fuji.
