Fujisan Marathon

Fuji-san Marathon

It is a full marathon race of the official recognition to go round the Lake Kawaguchiko that began in 1976 as “Lake Kawaguchiko Daily Publication Sports Marathon". Its name was changed to “Fuji-san Marathon" since 2012 and was reborn to the course that go around to the Lake Saiko.

In the first “Fuji-san Marathon" of 2012, the participants greatly increased from the last year. That’s why it did not manage smoothly, and then thousands of runners were not in time for a start. This happening was greatly handled in news at the time.

Moreover, at the first time, there was no connecting train from Tokyo in time for the start. This is said to be the reason that caused confusion on the day, too. At the third meeting of 2014, there was an increase of trains including “limited express Fuji-san Marathon" and the trains in time to start from Tokyo had increased greatly and became much convenient.
